Al Bustan Centre & Residence hosts athletes of 7th Fazza Wheelchair Basketball Tournament

Al Bustan Centre and Residence, the popular hotel-apartment among tourists and businessmen in the heart of Dubai, hosted athletes of 7th Fazza Wheelchair Basketball Tournament held from 14th to 21st May 2015.

The sporting event was held at Al Ahli Club where athletes from eight countries such as Oman, Kuwait, Morocco, Australia, Egypt, Thailand, Germany and the UAE competed and displayed their basketball skills. The team from Germany emerged as champion of this year’s tournament.

Moussa El Hayek, Al Bustan Centre and Residence Chief Operating Officer said during the Awarding Ceremony held at the property: “We will continue supporting sporting events like this since we believe that people with disability can do a lot of things and excel in various aspects of life. This has been the house of Fazza athletes for nine consecutive years and it will always be a privilege to accommodate them.”

H. E. Thani Juma Berregad, Chairman of Dubai Club for Disabled and Head of the Organizing Committee for the Fazza Championships for People with Disability welcomed the Teams and other members of the Fazza Committee and commented that “Al Bustan Centre & Residence has always been a “home away from home” for the athletes by providing and offering them with comfortable stay and convenience to prepare for each competition, relax and the opportunity to explore the services and facilities.

Souad Ibrahim Darwish, Director of Fazza Championships at Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center, praised the support and efforts of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, for his commitment in championing the cause of people with disabilities, as part of his campaign “My Community… A City for Everyone”.

The event was made possible in cooperation with the General Authority for Youth and Sports Welfare and Dubai Sports Council and the UAE Paralympic Committee.
