Al ZWAD opens new prospects with “Start Up”

The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime transport has recently witnessed the inauguration of “Start Up Weekend”. It is an event held within 54 hours divided on 3 days, the goal of which is to invite programmers, developers, designers, entrepreneurs and investors interested in Information Technology field in one place. They are divided into teams where each team demoes a new idea to be executed into a real project. This in addition to workshops and lectures concerned with the development of start-up capacities and developing distinguished ideas.

Among the speakers at “Start Up” was Ziad Aly, founder and CEO of ALZWAD for Mobile Services (ZMS) and is considered one of the leading companies in the field of entrepreneurship. Ziad has declared his enthusiasm towards “Start Up” saying: “Start Up will be of the important events anticipated by the society of information technology in Egypt. It is like a microscope to discover good talents and distinguished ideas and a beacon for projects looking to be nurtured and developed, which should reflect on the industrial and technological lives over the coming years”. He added: “ the new wave of Egyptian entrepreneurs do not only care about the deployment of this culture within the society of information technology alone, they have the interest and eagerness to spread it to all sectors in Egypt”.

ALZWAD aims to become the number one developer in mobile services in the Middle East and North Africa, that’s why the company provides help and support to new ideas and young entrepreneurs both financially and technically in addition to create the suitable environment for them to develop their projects and put them on the right path.

Ziad has praised the Egyptian youth participating and their potential to create significant change explaining: “Empty pockets have never stopped anyone from realizing their success, but the empty minds and souls always did so”.

At the end of his speech, he mentioned that “Start Up” can add a real value to the national economy and create jobs which help increase the growth rate especially if businessmen and concerned companies became interested in these ideas and benefited from them which can achieve a significant triumph in the field of information technology in the future. 

It should be noted that “Start Up” is divided into three stages:

Show idea in one minute and then voted by all participants in the event.

Forming a working team and get a preliminary form of the idea and a partial application.

The final presentation of what has been reached in front of the jury in five minutes.

More than 250 young programmers, developers and entrepreneurs attended “Start Up Weekend” in addition to dozens of companies that were keen to be presented as sponsors of the event. The best ideas have been selected among 60 presented ideas which were accepted and admired by the participants and the audience.
