Ambassadors’ spouses visit ALHOSN University to introduce their book on children’s stories from around the world

The wives of ambassadors based in Abu Dhabi recently visited ALHOSN University to discuss the book ‘On the Wings of a Tale: Children’s Stories from around the World’ – a collection of traditional tales they personally compiled. The American Corner of Abu Dhabi City in cooperation with the Reading Club of ALHOSN University hosted the session.
Dr. Naima Benkari, Assistant Professor at the Department of Architecture, delivered the opening remarks followed by some inspiring words from Dr. Mohamed Saeed, Assistant Professor and Chair of the Education Department and President of the Reading Club. The authors – the wives of ambassadors from Egypt (Maha Radwan); Canada (Wendy Lewis, also the President of the Diplomatic Group for the Spouses of Ambassadors); the Arab Monetary Fund (Souad Al Mannai); Swaziland, Southern Africa (Martha Hlophe); Tunisia (Amena Betayeb); and Libya (Nadia Al Hashani) – then proceeded to discuss the book and the importance of value-rich stories for child development. Signed copies were sold during the event, with ALHOSN ordering 20 copies; proceeds will be donated to the Al Ain Care and Rehabilitation Centre. Attendees posed for photos at the American Corner afterwards.
“Literature has the power to transform, especially when introduced to young minds. At ALHOSN, we promote creativity and values, all of which are embodied in this exquisite book prepared by the Diplomatic Group. We hope that the gift of reading will not be lost on our youths and that we can continue to help needy people through meaningful activities such as these,” said Prof. Abdul Rahim Sabouni, Vice Chancellor and CEO, ALHOSN University.
Wendy Lewis, President of the Diplomatic Group, said: “We are very proud to be here. We thank ALHOSN University for hosting the event and assisting us in promoting our cause. Through this project we impart educational values for young children and teach them the difference between right and wrong. We encourage parents to read with their children and mold them into good citizens.”
