ALHOSN University, a leading Abu Dhabi-based university dedicated to high-quality, value-based education, showcased the exceptional skills of its Civil Engineering CE students during its Civil Engineering Capstone Week held recently at the university’s Civil Engineering Laboratory.

A total of 14 capstone projects prepared by 30 graduating CE students were presented, among them concepts for transport engineering planning using Geographic Information Systems GIS, eco-friendly villas, and advanced drainage and highway designs. The event was a platform for students to merge their theoretical and practical knowledge, with participants presenting full technical details of their projects such as design aspects, structural analysis, and modeling.

ALHOSN has been pioneering engineering education in Abu Dhabi since it opened its doors to students of all nationalities in 2005. The university’s Civil Engineering track is the first fully accredited Civil Engineering program in the Emirate and is the cornerstone for the Master of Building Engineering degree, the only one of its kind in the UAE. ALHOSN is also the first private university in the country to establish an ‘Association of Women in Engineering. Civil Engineering is ALHOSN’s largest engineering department, overseeing over 160 students, approximately half of which are UAE Nationals.

The Civil Engineering Capstone Week reaffirms our promise of grooming the ‘Engineers of the Future.’ Some of the best student-made engineering projects in the country were on display, and we are very proud of the hard work of our wards and their mentors. More than just a showcase of our student talents, however, the capstone week emphasizes the importance of technology in realizing the UAE’s development plans for the next few decades, said Prof. Abdul Rahim Sabouni, Vice Chancellor and CEO, ALHOSN University.

Named after Abu Dhabi's historic ALHOSN Palace, ALHOSN University was founded in 2005 by the Abu Dhabi Holding Company in response to growing local demand for high-quality, value-based educational institutions. It currently offers 12 undergraduate and 7 graduate programs under the Faculties of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Business, and Arts and Social Sciences. ALHOSN accepts students of all nationalities and also accommodates youths with special needs. All its programs are accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
