ALHOSN University, a leading Abu Dhabi-based university, dedicated to high-quality, value-based education, will hold a series of distinctive activities to commemorate this year’s Holy Ramadan.

The university’s Ramadan 2012 agenda includes several competitions, starting with a Lamp Craft contest where participating students use various forms of materials and designs to create their artistic works. There will also be a Ramadan Photo Competition for students and online followers where winners will be determined via votes on ALHOSN’s Facebook page. Raffle draws for numerous contests offering valuable prizes are lined up every Tuesday after the day’s featured lecture.

A Decoration Week will be held at ALHOSN’s campus grounds to create the proper atmosphere for the month-long activities. Ramadan gift-giving and a donation drive will also be set up in keeping with the charitable spirit of the Holy Ramadan. In addition, lectures on the Quran’s Scientific Miracles and ‘Zakat al-Fitr will be delivered to students and guests alike.

Throughout the Holy Month, there will be Group Iftars at the university every Thursday to instill a sense of amity and unity among staff and students. A special EID Card Giving ceremony is also slated towards the end of the month to celebrate the passing of another memorable Ramadan season.

“Once a year, the world’s Muslim community celebrates Ramadan and affirms its love for its faith through fervent reflection, sacrifice and charity. ALHOSN University will be undertaking memorable events that bind us further as a community throughout the Holy Month. Our annual Ramadan activities reflect our aspiration to foster ‘global knowledge with local vision,’” said Prof. Abdul Rahim Sabouni, Vice Chancellor and CEO, ALHOSN University.

Named after Abu Dhabi's historic ALHOSN Palace, ALHOSN University was founded in 2005 by the Abu Dhabi Holding Company in response to growing local demand for high-quality, value-based educational institutions. It currently offers 12 undergraduate and 7 graduate programs under the Faculties of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Business, and Arts and Social Sciences. ALHOSN accepts students of all nationalities and also accommodates youths with special needs. All its programs are accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
