American Hospital Dubai Signs Joint Venture Agreement With Swedish IVF Pioneer Livio

Catering to the growing demand for fertility-related treatments and services in the UAE, American Hospital Dubai, part of Mohamed & Obaid Al Mulla Group, one of the leading pioneers of private healthcare in the Middle East, has signed a joint venture deal with Sweden-based Livio AB, the largest provider of in vitro fertilization (IVF) in Nordic countries. After becoming the inaugural Middle East member of the prestigious Mayo Clinic Care Network in 2016, the American Hospital Dubai seeks to offer only the best expertise for the betterment of patient care in the UAE and surrounding region.
The partnership seeks to further progress upon national strategies to make Dubai and the UAE as a whole a hub for medical tourism and the focal point of patients across the region and beyond.
The merger of two eminent organizations is expected to facilitate the establishment of an IVF center with the best possible pregnancy results in the Middle East.
Sherif Beshara, Chief Executive Officer of Mohamed & Obaid Al Mulla Group, said, “Our commitment to the well-being of the nation and the region is reflected in our efforts to find and collaborate with specialists and pioneers across the globe. We seek to cater to the rising demand for quality fertility treatments in the UAE to bridge the substantial demand and supply gap in the country.”
Steffan Lundberg M.D Ph.D and cofounder of Livio, said: “We have always strived to deliver the best IVF treatment with care and consideration on an individual level. Our goal is to continue to deliver treatments with the same medical standards and ethics as in Sweden in compliance with legislation in Dubai. Our consistent quality work has led to favorable pregnancy results through IVF, and through this collaboration with American Hospital Dubai, we are looking to replicate this success and deliver “Swedish world class IVF results in Dubai.”
Looking at global fertility statistics, the World Health Organisation (WHO) states that approximately 50 to 80 million people worldwide (8 – 12% of all couples) experience some problems with their fertility at some point in their reproductive life. The new collaboration will bring the best possible IVF treatment opportunities to couples in the region.
American Hospital was ably assisted by Baker McKenzie as legal counsel during the negotiations with Livio for the establishment of the new Joint Venture company. Under the agreement, a specialized laboratory will be constructed as per Livio standards inside the American Hospital. The fertility center will be operated inside the American hospital, with medical expertise supplied by Livio.
We are convinced that together, this partnership will bring the best outcomes for couples having fertility treatment in the Middle East.
