Arab Bank donates to support King Hussein Cancer Center’s new building project

Stemming from Arab Bank’s ongoing commitment to supporting healthcare in the Kingdom and as part of its corporate social responsibility program, Together, the Bank recently made a financial donation to the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF). The donation will go towards supporting the construction of two new state-of-the-art facilities at the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC).

As the Arab Bank donated JD 25,000 through the Foundation’s Naming and Recognition program, a room at the current building will be named in honor of Arab Bank for their support of the new building project.

At three times the size of the existing center, the expansion will be located across from it and will double KHCC’s capacity by 200 additional adult and child inpatient rooms. Equipped with the latest medical technology used in cancer treatment, the larger space is also designed to absorb larger numbers of outpatients and guarantee maximum patient comfort.

The agreement which was signed by Her Royal Highness Princess Dina Mired, Director General of KHCF, and Ms. Dina Shoman, Executive Vice President of Branding at Arab Bank is an extension of the continued collaboration between KHCF and the Bank. Arab Bank has been supporting the Foundation’s efforts in providing state-of-the-art comprehensive cancer care and expanding their services and impact since the launch of the Together program in 2009.

On this occasion, Her Royal Highness Princess Dina Mired thanked Arab Bank for their continuous support, adding “Once the new building project is completed, KHCC will be able to absorb twice the number of patients. This will reduce the number of patients on our waiting list, so that no one will be denied the chance to receive quality comprehensive cancer treatment. KHCC is committed to maintaining its standing as a center of excellence and as

Jordan’s medical jewel. With the addition of the new buildings, we hope to become the main medical hub for comprehensive cancer care serving Jordan and the region.”

Princess Dina Mired also commented on the Foundation’s fundraising efforts saying “The Foundation aims to cover the costs of the new building project through fundraising. This has been further bolstered by the Jordanian Fatwa Council’s recent proclamation qualifying any donation made towards the KHCC new building project as an ongoing sadaka.” 

For her part, Ms. Shoman commented, “The King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center offer invaluable services to patients and at the highest international standards; we are proud to be involved with their cause and pledge our support to help them reach their goals.” Ms. Shoman also added, “The expansion plans, which will increase overall capacity and therefore allow for more patients to be cared for at a time, are within the framework of increasing the efficiency and impact of the Center’s operation in our community.”

It is worth mentioning that the Together program offers Arab Bank customers the ability to support KHCF in addition to three other Together non-profit organizations directly through ATMs, Arabi Online (Internet banking), Hala Arabi (telephone banking), branches and the Together Visa Platinum Credit Card.
