Aster DM Healthcare Oman Celebrates Global Recognition and Launches Quality Excellence Initiatives at Special Awards Ceremony

Aster DM Healthcare Oman hosted a special gathering at Aster Royal Al Raffah Hospital, Muscat, celebrating clinical excellence, global recognition, and the launch of its Quality Excellence Initiatives, reaffirming its commitment to advancing tertiary-level healthcare in the Sultanate of Oman.

The event was held in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Salim Saif Al Mandhari, Undersecretary for Planning and Health Regulation, Ministry of Health, Sultanate of Oman, who, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour and led the facilitation of awards recognising outstanding departments and clinicians from Aster’s Oman network.

As part of the programme, Aster DM Healthcare Oman honoured departments that have received recognition through the Newsweek World’s Best Specialized Hospitals – Middle East 2026 rankings and the ET Healthcare Leaders Awards – Middle East 2025, marking a day of recognition, inspiration, and renewed commitment to delivering world-class care to the people of Oman.

During the event, Aster formally launched its Quality Excellence Initiatives, designed to elevate patient safety, clinical outcomes, and service standards across its hospitals in Oman. The initiative reflects Aster’s strategic focus on embedding globally benchmarked quality frameworks, strengthening tertiary care capabilities, and ensuring patient-centric, outcomes-driven healthcare delivery.

Aster DM Healthcare achieved a significant milestone, with Aster Royal Al Raffah Hospital, Muscat, and Aster Al Raffah Hospital, Sohar, being featured in Newsweek’s Best Specialized Hospitals Middle East 2026 list. Aster Royal Al Raffah Hospital, Muscat, earned recognition across five key specialties - Gastroenterology, Neurology, Oncology, Orthopedics, and Pediatrics - representing one of the broadest specialty acknowledgements in the country, while Aster Al Raffah Hospital, Sohar, was recognised for its excellence in Gastroenterology.

Overall, nine hospitals from Aster DM Healthcare’s GCC network across the UAE, Oman, and Qatar were featured in the prestigious rankings. Developed by Newsweek in partnership with global data intelligence firm Statista, the rankings evaluate hospitals based on peer recommendations, accreditation excellence, and the adoption of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs), a key indicator of patient-centric, outcomes-driven care.

Aster’s leadership in clinical and institutional excellence was further reinforced at the ET Healthcare Leaders Awards – Middle East 2025, where multiple hospitals and clinicians from Oman received top honours. Aster Royal Al Raffah Walkagain Rehabilitation Hospital was recognised as a Center of Excellence in Neurology, while Dr. Khalil Al Macki from Aster Royal Al Raffah Hospital received the ENT Specialist of the Year (Otolaryngology) award. Dr. Shashivadhanan, also from Aster Royal Al Raffah Hospital, was honoured with the Neurosurgical Excellence Award, and Aster Royal Al Raffah Hospital, Oman, was named the Flagship Multi-Specialty Medical Institution, highlighting Aster’s continued commitment to clinical excellence and high-quality patient care in the Sultanate.

Commenting on the occasion, Dr. Sherbaz Bichu, CEO, Aster Hospitals & Clinics – UAE, Bahrain and Oman, said, “This event reflects Aster’s unwavering commitment to clinical excellence and quality-led healthcare in Oman. The global recognitions received by our hospitals, along with the launch of our Quality Excellence Initiatives, reinforce our focus on patient safety, outcomes, and continuously raising care standards across all specialties.”

Mr. Shailesh Guntu, Deputy CEO, Aster Hospitals – UAE & Oman, added, “Our journey in Oman is centred on building strong tertiary-care capabilities supported by robust quality frameworks and clinical expertise. These recognitions are a testament to the dedication of our medical teams and our continued efforts to deliver accessible, world-class healthcare to communities across the Sultanate.”

With 15 hospitals across the GCC and a growing network of centres of excellence, Aster DM Healthcare continues to invest in advanced diagnostics, specialised treatments, and best-practice clinical protocols.
