ASUS Middle East today announced X99-WS/IPMI, an Intel X99 Express chipset-based ATX (12-inch x 10-inch) workstation motherboard with a cooling-optimized design and the ASUS-exclusive OC Socket for exceptional processor and memory overclocking. Compliant with the latest Intelligent Platform Management Interface 2.0 (IPMI 2.0) systems-management standard and with the ASUS ASMB8-iKVM’s remote-management module, X99-WS/IPMI targets not only professionals and gamers but also high-frequency, high-speed trading and large-scale quantitative trading operation across a wide range of global financial markets.

With an Intel LGA2011-v3-compatible OC Socket to enhance overclocking performance for the next-generation Intel Core i7 processors, X99-WS/IPMI includes an integrated Driver-MOSFET (Dr. MOS) and ASUS-exclusive Beat Thermal Chokes II, ultra-durable 12K capacitors and ProCool power connector.

This latest addition to the ASUS workstation motherboard line-up also offers industry-leading storage opportunities with onboard M.2 and support for the exclusive ASUS PIKE II (Proprietary I/O Kit Expansion) expansion card. It also has many simple, efficient and ASUS-exclusive easy-maintenance tools, including Q-Code Logger and Dr. Power.

Drive CPU and DDR4 performance beyond all expectations!

Designed to break performance barriers, the patent-pending ASUS OC Socket utilizes extra pins to connect a proprietary circuit to contacts found on Haswell-E's land grid array (LGA). Combined with the customized ASUS UEFI BIOS, this exclusive feature enables higher DDR4 memory frequencies, lower latencies and enhanced stability while overclocking, extending all the way to extreme overclocking conditions, such as liquid nitrogen (LN2). OC Socket is 100% compatible with new Haswell-E LGA 2011-v3 CPUs, ensuring the ideal combination of overclocking performance and compatibility.

Flexible expandability, airflow-optimized layout and complete remote server management

X99-WS/IPMI delivers superior flexibility and performance, with eight DDR4 DIMM slots, and five PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots. The new motherboard’s layout is designed to maximize airflow, with the processor and memory slots placed in a parallel arrangement to promote maximum cooling for increased efficiency — making the X99-WS/IPMI ideal for both datacenter and workstation use.

With the IPMI 2.0-compliant ASMB8-iKVM module, X99-WS/IPMI easy remote-management is enabled. Via the simple and intuitive ASUS System Web-based Management (ASWM) Enterprise management tool, which is operated via a web-based interface that works with all major browsers, administrators are able to save time and effort by using ASWM Enterprise to control equipment.

ASMB8-iKVM’s out-of-band management provides round-the-clock remote monitoring and diagnosis even if the server operating system is down or offline, enabling one-to-multiple centralized management including BIOS flash, error recording, software dispatch, task scheduling, remote control and power control.

Premium components for premium efficiency

X99-WS/IPMI benefits from premium components hand-chosen and carefully arranged by ASUS engineers to provide premium efficiency. These include an integrated Dr. MOS to save space and reduce operating temperatures for more efficient operation, and ASUS-exclusive Beat Thermal Chokes II. Beat Thermal Chokes II deliver greater durability and up to 94% power efficiency under normal operation. A special fin design results in up to 5°C-lower choke temperatures for added stability, further bolstered by use of a highly-conductive gold coating. This translates into minimal-loss power delivery.

X99-WS/IPMI is also built with ultra-resilient 12K solid capacitors. These Japanese-made capacitors are able to withstand up to 12,000 hours of temperatures as high as 105°C, far exceeding everyday demands. At a typical operating temperature of 65°C, our 12K capacitors have an expected lifespan of 1.2m hours — or well over a century of real-world use.

ProCool is X99-WS/IPMI’s ASUS-exclusive reinvented power connector. ProCool ensure an exceptionally close and secure connection with the motherboard. This design is much stronger, and it also benefits power efficiency: the flush connection enables lower impedance and better heat dissipation, allowing cooler operating temperatures.

Industry-leading storage options and easy troubleshooting

The new X99-WS/IPMI workstation motherboard offers industry-leading storage flexibility, with a built-in M.2 connector supporting 2280 (60mm) and 2260 (80mm) devices, and support for the ASUS PIKE II card for high-reliability, enterprise-grade 12Gbit/s Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) devices,  perfect for performance-driven applications.

X99-WS/IPMI includes a variety of ASUS-exclusive troubleshooting aids. ASUS Q-Code Logger is an easy-maintenance button that records port 80 code logs to a flash drive with one touch, so administrators can diagnose problems quickly and easily. Similarly, the conveniently-located ASUS Dr. Power LED displays messages to clearly indicate any unusual power statuses.
