Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency visits Qatar Foundation and explores possible collaborations

Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) hosted His Excellency the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano during a visit to Qatar.
The Head of the Vienna-based intergovernmental organisation and his delegation were welcomed to Qatar Foundation Visitor’s Centre by Engineer Jassim Telefat, Group Executive Director of Qatar Foundation Capital Projects and Facilities Management.
H.E. the Director General was then introduced to QF through a comprehensive presentation that detailed the many educational initiatives, community development plans and scientific research programmes being undertaken by the Foundation and its many centres.
Following the presentation, the delegation was shown an impressive 3D scale model of the educational and research buildings, in addition to future construction projects at Qatar Foundation.
“Qatar Foundation and IAEA share common objectives, focusing on innovation in science and technology,” said H.E The Director General Yukiya Amano. “There are certain areas that both organisations are working in, including environment protection, water conservation and health, and this opens up many opportunities for collaboration. I hope this is the beginning of a wonderful co-operation between IAEA and Qatar Foundation.”
The visit concluded with H.E. the Director General and his delegation visiting the headquarters of Qatar Foundation Research and Development’s Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP), where they were received by Mr Hamad Al Kuwari, Managing Director, QSTP.
