Averda, the largest environmental solutions provider in the MENA region, specializing in integrated waste resource management and providing sustainable solutions built around more than 35 years of industry experience recently sponsored and took part in Goumbook’s Future Green initiative that was successfully launched in 2010 in Dubai.  A number of local companies took part in the event alongside leading environmental organizations such as the Emirates Wildlife Society (EWS-WWF).

During the two-day event, averda showcased its reverse vending machine, an innovative recycling solution by ReVa.  The machine accepts plastic bottles and cans in exchange for rewards, encouraging consumers to ‘do good’ in their communities through recycling.  The attendees, adults and children alike, were shown how the machine worled and hundreds of recyclable plastic bottles and cans were collected for recycling.

Faiqa Anwar, who attended Future Green with a group of friends expressed her delight at how it would now be possible for her to recycle plastic bottles and cans and said: “My family and I are very keen on recycling, but did not know where to dispose of our plastic bottles and cans. I am very excited to learn that the ReVa will be rolled out in different parts of Dubai, and I look forward to seeing and using it in malls around the city.”

Future Green is meant to be an example on how events can minimize their impact on the environment, so in keeping with event’s theme, all the stands were built in 100% biodegradable and recyclable materials, and were recycled afterwards.
