UAE's Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation Inaugurates Ahmed Al Abdulla’s Dh16.5 Million Endowment Project

The Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF) inaugurated a new residential and commercial endowment development in Al Bada’a area of Dubai, funded by His Excellency Ahmed Ali Al Abdulla. The project’s revenues will benefit the orphans in AMAF’s care including those residing in the Family Village, the region’s first community orphanage that provides more than 30 children with shelter, education, and support in a stable family environment.

His Excellency Tayeb Al-Rais, Secretary General of AMAF, Ahmed Bu Shihab, Director of AMAF’s Endowment Development Department, and His Excellency Ahmed Ali Al Abdulla attended the ceremony. Other high-level officials from AMAF were also present at the inauguration.

Built at an estimated overall cost of AED16.5 million, the new project features three G+2-storey residential buildings including retail space, spanning a total floor area of 39,376 square feet and expected to generate annual revenues of AED2.8 million. Two of the buildings comprise 14 one-bedroom apartments and two retail stores each, while the third building features four two-bedroom apartments and two retail stores.

His Excellency Tayeb Al-Rais said: “The response from national companies and institutions to our initiatives reflects their deep commitment to social responsibility and their keen interest in boosting the UAE’s status as a leader in humanitarian and charity work. His Excellency Ahmed Ali Al Abdulla’s project is a model of sustainable and socially impactful endowment. We hope his example will encourage more philanthropists to cooperate with AMAF in endorsing Islamic and humane values in our society.”

For his part, His Excellency Ahmed Ali Al Abdulla said: “Collaboration between public and private sector institutions is essential to drive and sustain the charity efforts supported by our wise leadership towards ensuring social solidarity across the nation. This project is a humble contribution to these efforts. The Family Village plays a crucial role in caring for orphans and embodies the spirit of goodness and generosity that the UAE is well known for.”

Awqaf and Minors Affairs

The birth of the Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF) came with the issue of law No. 6 in 2004 during the era of the late His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum. With the expansion of the institution in its work and functions, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Mak​toum, Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler Dubai issued law No. 9 in 2007 organizing the work of the institution, to ensure the provision of a conducive environment for greater achievements in the development of ‘awqaf’ and minors’ ​funds, and the care of their affairs, according to a well-aimed plan, and a conscious vision and insight.
