Bahrain City Centre ‘overwhelmed’ with community support for ‘Make a Difference this Ramadan’ charity drive
Bahrain City Centre, together with the support of the local community, have made a meaningful difference this Ramadan with an overwhelming number of donations received over the past month. Wrapping up its second successful year, Bahrain City Centre’s “Make a Difference this Ramadan’ campaign invited shoppers and retailers to donate everyday items such as clothing, eye glasses, mobile phones and books. In total, there will be 2,000 bags of clothing, 1,800 books, 140 eye glasses and 15 mobile phones to be given to Awali Thrift Shop and distributed locally to those in need. Awali Thrift Shop is also supporting international causes by donating BD300 towards the Somali crisis, resulting from additional sales generated from donated items.
“We’re absolutely touched by the generosity of the local community,” said Ray Scott, Asset Director for Bahrain City Centre. “The ‘Make a Difference this Ramadan’ campaign reflects the spirit of Ramadan, and Bahrain City Centre will continue to lend its support to the community through charitable causes. A heartfelt ‘Thank You’ to all those who contributed.”
“We’re extremely pleased with the positive response to the Bahrain City Centre ‘Make a Difference this Ramadan’ drive,” said Fatima Abdulkarim, Chairperson of Awali Thrift Shop. “We are proud to be associated with such a meaningful cause, and it continues to be a huge support to our thrift shop and charitable causes. As a result, Awali Thrift Shop is able to not only support the local Bahraini community, but towards equally important humanitarian efforts such as the crisis in Somalia.”
