The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) participated in the World Travel Market (WTM)

The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) participated in the World Travel Market (WTM), a platform which attracts representatives from the travel and tourism industry. The event, which is taking place in London United Kingdom, will continue to run until the 6th of November 2019.

Bahrain’s delegation is being headed by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, H.E. Zayed bin Rashid Alzayani, Chief Executive Officer of BTEA, Mr. Nader Al Moayyed and also includes representatives from BTEA, the Bahrain Economic Development Board, the national carrier Gulf Air, Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), as well as a number of leading hotels and travel agents.

During the event, BTEA announced the launch of exclusive Formula 1 packages in collaboration with Gulf Air, Bahrain International Circuit, and various travel and tourism companies who will offer special prices to attend the upcoming Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix race, which will be held between the 19th and 22nd of March 2020. The packages offered include airline tickets, a ticket to the race, hotel accommodation and transportation.

BTEA also held meetings with representatives from its representative offices to discuss the strategy of each office which will be implemented during the next year, the latest developments and key achievements of each office during the first nine months of 2019 were also highlighted.

“We have always been keen to participate in various regional and international exhibitions and events, through which we seek to promote the Kingdom of Bahrain as a tourist destination in order to attract foreign investments and increase tourism numbers. Our strategy at BTEA focuses on strengthening the Kingdom’s tourism sector in order for it to become one of the main contributors to the economy. Our aim is to position Bahrain as a regional and international tourism hub,” said the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, H.E. Zayed bin Rashid Alzayani.

"Our participation in the World Travel Market comes as part of our efforts to promote the Kingdom of Bahrain in the global market with the aim of attracting investment and increasing the number of visitors to the Kingdom, in an effort to revitalize the tourism sector and the national economy as a whole," commented Chief Executive Officer of BTEA, Mr. Nader Al Moayyed.

"The Kingdom of Bahrain will be hosting the Formula 1 race next year and introducing this package forms an important cooperation between BTEA, the national carrier Gulf Air, Bahrain International Circuit and travel agencies. With the launch of this package, we expect an increase in inbound tourism from all over the world, which will have a positive impact on the tourism sector, increasing its contribution to the national economy” he added.

BTEA’s participation comes in line with its long term strategy to further develop the Kingdom’s tourism sector and strengthen its position on regional and international levels under the slogan of ‘Ours. Yours.’, which contributes towards the Kingdom’s economy and the 2030 Economic Vision.

Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority was established in 2015 under the Royal Decree number (76) for the year 2015 issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain. Whereas the first clause of the Decree number (10) stated that an authority should be established under the supervision of the Council of Ministers

In 2015, BTEA started its operations under the Decree number (9) for the year 2015 to append the Tourism Affairs to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce based on the recommendation of HRH Prime Minister and under the law number (62) of the year 2016 to establish and regulate the Bahrain Exhibition and Convention Authority (BECA) and the Decree number (1) for the year 1985 to establish a Supreme Council for Tourism, and the law number (15) for the year 1986 to regulate the Tourism sector amended by a Law by Decree number (12) for the year 1994.
