BFC helps raise breast cancer awareness
Bahrain Financing Company (BFC), the Kingdom’s oldest and most reputed money transfer and foreign exchange group has recently hosted an educational lecture by Think Pink Bahrain founder, Ms Julie Sparkel for its staff members. The session, which was held under the company’s initiative ‘BFC&me’, was part of BFC’s ongoing efforts and commitment to their staffs health and overall wellbeing. BFC&Me was launched in 2010 as a program to provide support to staff across the business and to reach out to local communities.
The lecture, which was attended by BFC’s female staff members, focused on the importance of breast cancer awareness, educating them on proper examination methods and key indicators for the staff to look out for.
Commenting on the lecture, Ms. Sparkel “said, “Cancer awareness is very important, and it is great to see companies like BFC supporting the cause and providing education to their staff. Education is the best defence against breast cancer, which is why this is such a great initiative by BFC, showing their commitment towards their employee’s wellbeing and the overall health of their workforce.”
Think Pink Bahrain was founded in 2004, and since its inception, the funds raised by the charity have been utilized to support various breast cancer related initiatives including awareness campaigns, education and the purchase of the Digital MRI Machine for Salmaniya Medical Complex. Think Pink Bahrain is a nonprofit organization focused on raising awareness and encouraging early diagnosis of breast cancer.
Commenting on the session, Errol Fonseca, General Manager of BFC said, “At BFC, we take our employee’s health very seriously, and have established an internal initiative to this end entitled: BFC&Me. We are very happy with the attendance seen at the Think Pink Bahrain Cancer Awareness session Ms. Sparkel gave, as it shows our staff take their health very seriously as well. We will continue to do our part in raising Breast Cancer awareness amongst our staff as we feel it is essential to stay informed about this very serious disease.”
