Biolab Achieves Efforts in Empowering Women and Embedding Gender Considerations in Its HR Policies

Biolab, the Kingdom’s leading diagnostic laboratory that is accredited by four international bodies, participated in Sharaka Forum, organized by the Business Development Center (BDC) under the patronage of H.E. Mr. Ali Ghezawi, Minister of Labour. The forum was inaugurated by Ministry of Labour’s Secretarty General Eng. Hani Khleifat on behalf of the minister. Entitled “Gender Sensitization in the Jordanian Ecosystem”, the forum aimed at assessing the impact of integrating gender considerations in human resources policies leading to women empowerment and professional development, thus increasing public and private sectors’ productivity and prosperity.
As part of the Sharaka Forum’s program, BDC presented Biolab’s successful case study that addresses the role of integrating gender considerations and women-friendly HR workplace policies in supporting women’s professional and career development and job stability. This effort came as a result of Biolab’s partnership with the Gender Sensitization in the Jordanian Eco-system Project, where it conducted a gender-needs assessment. The results of this assessment revealed that Biolab is gender sensitized, as demonstrated by its gender sensitive policies, including flexible working hours, maternity and nursery benefits, technical and management capacity building and eliminating all means of gender discrimination.
Biolab’s CEO and founder, Dr. Amid Abdelnour praised those efforts in his speech during the forum saying, “As demonstrated today in this forum, Biolab’s women empowerment efforts and support in the workplace payed off. The assessment results revealed that Biolab’s policies are integrating and embeding gender considerations in its policies, which contributed in empowering and retaining the women workforce that constitute a high percentage of the total workforce.”
As a regional pioneer in the field of medical diagnostics and laboratory testing, Biolab provides an extensive portfolio of more than 700 diagnostic services, catering to individuals, physicians, hospitals, and other laboratories across Jordan and the Middle East. In Jordan, Biolab operates a total of 17 branches, in key locations throughout Amman – such as Al Khalidi Street, Fifth Circle, Hay Al Yasmeen, Marj Al Hamam, Khalda, City Mall, Bayader-Wadi Seer, Shmeisani, Third Circle, Fuheis, Irbid and the newly launched branch in Tila’ Al Ali. Biolab offers its patients and customers the convenience of receiving their test results online at www.biolab.jo and via its mobile application.
Along with its ISO15189 certification provided by the Jordanian Accreditation System (JAS) for quality health services, Biolab’s medical diagnostic services are accredited by the Jordanian Ministry of Health, the Joint Commission International (JCI), and the College of American Pathologists (CAP). Biolab has recently obtained accreditation from the Health Care Accreditation Council (HCAC) and has now become the only stand-alone laboratory in the region that is endorsed by four international accreditation bodies.
