Biolab has recently participated in a national event entitled “Promoting Women’s Leadership in Health” that was organized under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Muna Al Hussein and in the presence of Minister of Health H.E. Prof. Mahmoud Al Sheyyabon June 25th, 2018 at Landmark Amman Hotel. Biolab – the Kingdom’s leading diagnostic laboratory that is accredited by four international bodies – participated in the event’s panel discussion to address Biolab’s experience in women empowerment in the workplace.

The event was organized by the USAID Human Resources for Health in 2030 Program, to launch the findings of a recent HRH2030 study entitled, “Barriers and Enablers of Women’s Career Progression to Management Positions in Jordan’s Health Sector”. The event was held with the participation of almost 250 high-level representatives and health stakeholders in Jordan.

According to the study, less than half (41.4%) of female health professionals reported that their institution considers the needs of both male and female workers when scheduling shifts to reconcile professional, family, and personal life. To that extent, CEO and Founder Dr. Amid Abdelnour presented Biolab’s experience in incorporating gender-sensitive policies and practices to increase staff retention, particularly women.

During the panel discussion, Dr. Abdelnour said that Biolab has paid great efforts to reduce staff turnover, particularly among women, from 22% in 2015 to 12% in 2016 and 2017 through applying policies and practices like flexible working hours, part-time work arrangements, providing mothers with nursery allowances, and giving them an option for an extended unpaid maternity leave.

As a regional pioneer in the field of medical diagnostics and laboratory testing, Biolab provides an extensive portfolio of more than 700 diagnostic services, catering to individuals, physicians, hospitals, and other laboratories across Jordan and the Middle East. In Jordan, Biolab operates a total of 18 branches, in key locations throughout Amman – such as Al Khalidi Street, Fifth Circle, Hay Al Yasmeen, Marj Al Hamam, Khalda, City Mall, Bayader-Wadi Seer, Shmeisani, Third Circle, Fuheis, Irbid, Tila’ Al Ali and the newly launched branch in Jubeiha. Biolab offers its patients and customers the convenience of receiving their test results online at and via its mobile application.

Along with its ISO15189 certification provided by the Jordanian Accreditation System (JAS) for quality health services, Biolab’s medical diagnostic services are accredited by the Jordanian Ministry of Health, the Joint Commission International (JCI), and the College of American Pathologists (CAP). Biolab has recently obtained accreditation from the Health Care Accreditation Council (HCAC) and has now become the only stand-alone laboratory in the region that is endorsed by four international accreditation bodies.
