Burgan Bank announced the renewal of its sponsorship of Tareq Al-Qallaf, Kuwait’s wheelchair fencing world champion, for the 2023 season, marking the Bank’s ninth consecutive year of support.

Burgan Bank announced the renewal of its sponsorship of Tareq Al-Qallaf, Kuwait’s wheelchair fencing world champion, for the 2023 season, marking the Bank’s ninth consecutive year of support. The sponsorship of the national sports hero comes as part of the Bank’s comprehensive social responsibility program, which includes dedicated efforts to support Kuwait’s disabled athletic talents; enabling them to receive adequate training that qualifies them for competing locally, regionally, and internationally in pursuit of athletic success.

Throughout his years of professional wheelchair fencing, Al-Qallaf has garnered more than 450 international medals, including more than 50 of which are gold medals that he’d won competing in the US Fencing Championship. In addition, he was awarded the ‘sword of honor’, recognizing his outstanding athletic performance and celebrating him as the world’s best wheelchair fencer.

After more than 35 astounding years of professional fencing, Al-Qallaf continues to uphold his exemplary performance, collecting along his career more international titles and medals. The world champion is regarded as a source of national pride and a role model for all athletes.

In light of the sponsorship renewal, Ms. Hessa Hussain Al-Najadah, Senior Manager- Corporate and CSR Communications at Burgan Bank, stated: “At Burgan Bank, we are proud to extend our sponsorship of Tareq Al-Qallaf for the ninth consecutive year. Al-Najadah concluded her statement by extending her warm wishes to Al-Qallaf on behalf of Burgan Bank, noting that he is currently training to compete in multiple championships in the US during 2023, including the Louisville championship in Kentucky, Fort Worth championship in Texas, as well as the Pennsylvania championship. In addition, he will also be taking part in the annual Kuwaiti competition due end of the upcoming year.
