Canon Middle East announces winners of media photo contest

Canon Middle East, a leader in imaging solutions, has named the winners of its media photo competition, which serves as one of the highlights of Canon Middle East’s 10-month long anniversary celebrations. Organised under the theme “Power of Image,” the competition attracted entries from journalists and photojournalists across the region, highlighting the thought-provoking creativity of the region’s media practitioners.
A distinguished panel of judges was pooled together by Canon to choose the winning entries. Capturing the top honours were grand prize winner Lobna Tarek of Egypt’s Al Shorouk newspaper with her entry ‘Beyond the Divide’; second prize winner Emad Alaa Aldin of the UAE’s Al Bayan newspaper with ‘Intimacy’; and third prize winner Tania Rudenskykh of Kul Al’Usra magazine with ‘Bridging generations’.
Anurag Agrawal, Managing Director, Canon Middle East, said, “The entries we received were certainly a work of genius. The photographs brought life even to seemingly mundane aspects of everyday life in the region, underlining the genuine creativity and ingenuity of the region’s journalists and photojournalists, whose efforts we intended to recognise through this competition. Canon shares such passion for the power of image to inspire people’s creativity and innovation. We are therefore proud with the highly creative entries that we have received and would like to congratulate the winners and all the participants for showing us their true craftsmanship in harnessing the power of image. This is indeed a very meaningful way to celebrate Canon Middle East’s 10th anniversary.”
In line with its 10th anniversary celebration, Canon Middle East has been conducting a series of monthly activities based on various themes that reinforce Canon’s commitment to the community and the environment. Aside from the photo contest for media practitioners, other monthly activities and themes are the “Power of Partnership” conference for channel partners (November), the “Power of Environment” photo exhibition (December), the “Power of Image” regional photo competition (January), the “Power of Family” weekend activities for the family (February/March), the “Power of Friendship” (April/May), and the “Power of Education” events for schools and universities (June/July).
Canon Middle East, a subsidiary of Canon Europe, is the regional headquarters for Canon in the Middle East and North and East Africa and is based in Dubai, UAE. Canon has been doing business in the Middle East for more than 40 years through distributors and partners, gradually building a solid customer base and significant market share in the region.
