Canon Middle East receives international recognition for its social media campaigns in New York

Canon Middle East received international recognition in two categories at the prestigious Corporate Social Media Awards, held on June 15 in New York City. The company was announced the winner in the ‘Best Social Media Campaign’ category for the Canon Summer Arabia campaign and was ‘Highly Commended’ in the Most Innovative Use Of Social Media category for Canon Books4Cause campaign.
Additionally, the company’s CABSAT 2014 PR Campaign, also won accolades at the SABRE Awards in London last month, in the Trade Show category across Europe, Middle East and Africa. This win made public Canon Middle East’s effort to bring trends in the production and broadcast industry in the Middle East to light.
Along with Books4Cause, the Canon Summer Arabia campaign demonstrated the company’s commitment to the latest trends in technology, and stood out as an example of work that engaged, entertained, drove results and set the standard for the industry and others to emulate.
Canon Summer Arabia reached out to the most tech-savvy journalists from around the Middle East (United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt) to test the latest products through a series of challenges. The campaign successfully reached fans from the region, who submitted pictures that best reflected their various countries, in order to highlight them as the best summer destinations for tourism in 2014. Over 800 entries were submitted and photographers competed to represent their countries on Canon Middle East’s social media channels.
Being ‘Highly Commended’ under the Most Innovative use of Social Media for the Canon Books4Cause campaign, was added acknowledgement of Canon Middle East’s CSR and community-oriented programmes, made increasingly successful through social media. The campaign was launched on Canon Middle East’s social media channels, targeting online & offline users in the Middle East & Africa to support the ‘Adopt a School’ initiative.
The campaign successfully raised awareness on the ‘Adopt a School’ project in the Middle East and encouraged fans to donate books at Canon’s showrooms, and notebooks, virtually, through a Facebook tab; this, with the aim to eventually build a library in a school in Senegal.
Anurag Agrawal, Managing Director, Canon Middle East, said: “We are excited to have received such strong recognition for our social media campaigns in the last two months. We have always aimed to be innovative with our approach to media and clearly our team at Canon Middle East is doing an exemplary job of displaying our company’s creativity and technological prowess – but most of all our commitment to CSR.”
The Corporate Social Media awards are designed to celebrate those who drive corporate social media forward. They aim to showcase the vital work being done in social media and celebrate the great successes that are being made. The SABRE Awards, are one of the world’s leading PR Awards, and recognise Superior Achievement in Branding Reputation & Engagement.
