Careem Supports Tkiyet Um Ali on World Food Day

Careem, the leading ride-hailing service in the Middle East and North Africa, recently supported a World Food Day campaign led by Tkiyet Um Ali (TUA), an NGO founded by Her Royal Highness Princess Haya Bint Al-Hussein.
Careem’s role in the campaign was to help raise awareness for the thousands of people in Jordan who suffer from hunger. To do this, on World Food Day, the company delivered around 1,000 lunchboxes to media representatives and social media influencers in Amman. The lunchboxes were completely empty, save for a small piece of paper telling the story of a child, mother, or elderly person who currently benefits from one of Tkiyet Um Ali’s food programs.
Those who received a lunchbox were met with a small taste of what thousands of families go through on a daily basis. The realization of how easy it is to take simple necessities like food for granted was meant to encourage each of them to donate to the various food programs currently run by Tkiyet Um Ali and other NGOs actively working to eliminate hunger in Jordan.
Careem’s decision to take part in this initiative reflects its desire to help enhance the lives of families and communities across Jordan.
Speaking on this occasion, the Managing Director of Emerging Markets at Careem, Ibrahim Manna, said, “We at Careem are very proud of our partnership with Tkiyet Um Ali, which affirms our steadfast belief in the basic human rights and dignity of all people. By aiding Tkiyet Um Ali in its fight against hunger and helping spread awareness of this critical issue, we hope to help the organization move even closer to fulfilling its noble mission. This is one of many partnerships we have forged with local organizations in an effort to support communities across the Kingdom.”
In response to Careem’s support, the Director General of Tkiyet Um Ali, Samer Balkar, said, “We would like to thank Careem for their enthusiastic support of our World Food Day campaign, which enabled us to deliver almost 1,000 package in one day. The main goal of this campaign is to highlight the issue of hunger in Jordan and to focus on Tkiyet Um Ali’s role in fighting hunger. With Careem’s support, we provided a glimpse into the lives of more than 30,000 families across the Kingdom, who benefit from Tkiyet Um Ali on a monthly basis and depend on the organization to secure their food.”
This campaign is one of many efforts carried out by Careem under the theme ‘Be Careem,’ an initiative designed to support local communities across the Kingdom, in line with the country’s sustainable development goals.
