CDA delegation visits India Club
A delegation of the Community Development Authority (CDA), led by His Excellency Khaled Al Kamda Director General of CDA, visited India Club in Dubai.
This followed an invitation extended by the Club to HE Al Kamda to provide him with an honorary membership for the efforts of CDA in supporting community and social clubs.
The delegation was received by His Excellency Sanjay Varma, the Indian Consul General in Dubai, and Dr. Ram Buxani, the new Chairman of India Club. Al Kamda extended his congratulations to Dr Buxani and the new Board of Directors.
“The Indian Club is one of the oldest social clubs in Dubai, founded in 1964 on a land gifted by the late Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, to support solidarity and community feeling amongst the large Indian expatriate community in the UAE,”
“The visit of the CDA delegation was aimed at further fostering the relations between CDA and social clubs in Dubai, and to extend our support to positive social trends that represent the corner stone of overall social development. We look forward to continuous cooperation with all concerned social institutions to achieve the vision of Dubai in strengthening community spirit, stability and harmony among all segments,” he added.
"Through these regular visits to the various social clubs, we aim to explain to them the importance of obtaining a license from CDA, and encourage them to benefit from our experience in various social sectors through initiatives that target children, families, elderly and people with disabilities,” said Dr. Omar Al Muthanna, CEO of Social Regulatory and Licensing Sector in CDA.
The delegation toured the club and learned about its current and upcoming social initiatives and thanked the club for their hospitality. The India Club has more than 6500 members.
In 2011, the Government of Dubai issued the Executive Resolution No. 4 to regulate and license social clubs in Dubai. The Social Regulatory and Licensing Sector at CDA is the executive administration sector responsible for the implementation and management of a progressive regulatory and licensing system for all social sector providers in Dubai.
