Community Development Authority launches Social Service Practice Skills programme
The Community Development Authority (CDA) has launched the ‘Social Service Practice Skills’ programme aimed at further developing the skills of CDA’s social service specialists. The initiative is in line with CDA’s efforts to further strengthen community service standards in Dubai.
Held in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center at the UAE University, the programme reflects the commitment of the Authority to support its staff by further refining their skills through introducing critical thinking in social service, enhancing knowledge about professional intervention processes, underlining the characteristics of social service specialists, identifying social problems, and increasing awareness on laws & legislations related to children, juveniles, youth, elderly and women in the UAE, amongst other topics.
Dr. Syed Mohammad Al Hashemi, CEO of Corporate Services at said: “The Social Services Practice Skills programme is a path-breaking initiative that underlines the focus of the Authority to further strengthen our human resources. Through the programme, we are aligning the professional roles of our staff members in line with global best practices, and in turn, further elevating the standard of social services in Dubai.”
The programme includes three courses featuring several training workshops and educational lectures which will enable the participants to acquire skills that help them to further develop their career in social service. These courses include the Social Work Practice Skills Certificate, Diploma in Social Case Management and Diploma in training a Social Worker Instructor.

Community Development Authority
The Community Development Authority (CDA) was founded by a decree of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai in July 2008. CDA is responsible for setting up and developing a framework for social development, and aims to achieve the goals outlined in the Dubai Strategic Plans.
