Community Development Authority honours 23 members of Al Kayt Programme

The Community Development Authority (CDA) in Dubai honoured 23 members of its “Al Kayt Programme” for employing people with disabilities, after they successfully completed two English training courses over 16 weeks.

His Excellency Khalid Al Kamda, Director General of CDA honoured the Al Kayt members in a ceremony that was attended by Sheikh Maktoum bin Butti Al Maktoum, CEO of Social Care at the Authority and families of the programme members.

"We are delighted to honour people who are hardworking and passionate in achieving their goals. We hope this achievement will further encourage them to continue learning and acquire new skills,” Al Kamda said.

"The Social Care Sector in CDA has launched many initiatives that contribute to social empowerment and inclusion of people with disabilities. Al Kayt Programme aims not only to empower those people with disabilities but also enables them to use their skills effectively in business activity," said Sheikh Maktoum bin Butti Al Maktoum.

Al Kayt members who have completed the English courses will soon join other training sessions to further improve their skills and experience.

Al Kayt programme includes numerous services and programmes to facilitate integration of people with disabilities in the workforce. The services and programmes include assessment of applicants according to the nature of disability, assistance in preparing a resume, access to a special adviser, and training on how to perform routine job functions, professional guidance and advice, and special consultancy to employers on hiring people with disabilities.

​​​The Community Development Authority (CDA) was founded by a decree of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai in July 2008.
