Companies across Oman joined the Environment Society of Oman’s (ESO) 8th Eco Bowl, vying for the coveted first prize. The champion’s trophy, a rotating title that was won last year by Central Bank of Oman, was claimed again by Central Bank of Oman as the first-place winners of this year’s Eco Bowl. They were followed by Ooredoo in second place and Port of Salalah in third place, while Christian Francisco from Ooredoo was named the highest striker. Held at Pinz Bowling Center in Avenues Mall, the annual event raised funds for ESO’s various environmental projects and was also supported by SeaOman, UFC Gym Oman, Omanta Scuba and Mumtaz Mahal, who donated the prizes.

Her Highness Sayyida Tania Al Said, President of ESO, said, “We thank all of the participating teams who were great sports during the event. As a non-governmental organisation, getting the community involved in environmental causes, both through fundraising and through awareness, is pivotal to our success, and the business community especially, is vital. It’s also a great chance for companies to team-build, work together, and network…while lending support to a good cause.”

ESO first launched the Eco Bowl in 2012 as part of its programme of events to fundraise for important environmental initiatives as well as raise awareness among the community about its work. Largely focusing on community outreach and recruiting ambassadors within higher education institutions, ESO is working hard to build the capacity of young Omanis in the field of environmental conservation.

The prizes for this year’s Eco Bowl included Level 1 sailing lessons for the first place winners, donated by SeaOman. Second place received a six-month gym membership from UFC Gym Oman, and third place were given snorkeling trip vouchers from Omanta Scuba. Meanwhile, the highest striker received brunch vouchers from Mumtaz Mahal.
