Concorde Fujairah Hotel, a luxury accommodation in the heart of the city, participated in the third annual Terry Fox Marathon of Hope held in Fujairah Corniche.

The marathon, organised by Higher Colleges of Technology- Fujairah and held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, brought together over a thousand participants from the emirate. The funds raised from the event will be used to sponsor cancer research facilities in the UAE, which continuously seek ways to prevent and cure the disease.

Mohamed Fekry, General Manager, Concorde Fujairah Hotel, said, “The team is proud to support the annual Terry Fox Marathon and contribute in its noble cause of funding cancer research. We are looking forward to participate in similar activities in the future and help save lives through simple involvement.”

The marathon was inspired by Terry Fox, a Canadian who lost his right leg due to cancer at the age of 20. Fox set off to raise funds for cancer research by running across Canada but his feat was discontinued as the disease had spread to his lung. He died in 1981 at a young age of 22 but his legacy lives on through the Terry Fox Runs, which takes place in different parts of the world including the UAE. The funds raised from the event goes to the cancer research facilities of the respective countries.
