His Excellency Mr Sami Al Qamzi, Director General, Department of Economic Development (DED), honoured the distinguished employees who came on top in the Job Supremacy Competition for 2011. The competition was launched by the Corporate Quality and Management Excellence Division to strengthen staff performance and achieve DED's strategic and operational goals.

The Job Supremacy Competition adopts the criteria of the Dubai Government Excellence Programme – The Employee Excellence categories - aimed to highlight the best job competencies and upgrade employee performance in an atmosphere of transparency. The competition had 24 participants from DED and its agencies.

"The Job Supremacy Competition reflects the aspirations and vision of Dubai Government to invest in human resources, which is central in driving the emirate’s development. I thank our employees for their exceptional hard work and distinguished performance, honesty, and responsibility. The Director General added: "Excellence and quality in the field of employment requires creativity and innovation. I appeal to you all to double your efforts to refine your talents which will be beneficial to the community. I recall for the words of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum: "A job in the government is not just a way of making a living; it is a means of contributing to your country. Government offices are for production, not for routine, reliance and indolence; they are places for creativity.”

The Corporate Quality and Management Excellence Division launched the fifth cycle of the competition in 2011, aiming to provide a supportive environment for personal growth and human resource development by identifying and developing employees who contribute to the overall improvement of DED’s services to clients. The division organised awareness sessions to explain the standards and requirements of the competition to employees, along with workshops for the participants in groups and individually.

“We believe in continuously achieving excellence and meeting our goals, therefore the DED launched the competition that will advance the productivity levels of the staff members as well as raise customer service standards at the Department,” Mr Mohammed Bushanain, Executive Director Corporate Quality and Management Excellence, DED, said.
