DED honours graduates of third batch of middle management leadership programme

His Excellency Sami Al Qamzi, Director General of the Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED), honoured the graduates of the third batch of the Middle Management Leadership programme launched in 2009 at a special ceremony. The training programme is part of DED’s effort to provide a supportive environment for personnel growth and human resource development within the organisation, which will positively reflect on the services provided to customers.
The programme included the practical tools for success including modules on leadership and management development, project management skills, creative problem-solving and decision–making, along with presentation skills. The programme was structured to enable future leaders to implement the learning in their daily activities as they moved through each module.
The project design relied on identifying the training needs of employees within DED and its agencies through a 360° assessment programme, individual performance development plan, and feedback from direct managers or CEOs. The entire process is linked to DED’s strategic objectives and requirements.
The third batch included 20 employees selected from the middle management of DED and its agencies. Al Qamzi distributed certificates to the participants at the ceremony held at the DED headquarters in the Business Village.
Al Qamzi stressed the importance of focusing on the human element, which is regarded as one of the most precious resources in the labour market and the most influential in productivity. He said: “The Programme is part of DED’s contribution to the nation’s Emiratisation and capacity-building goals. We look forward to preparing our human cadres, nurturing and developing their competencies and expertise in addition to helping them to acquire new knowledge, refine their skills, and develop habits and techniques required to excel in their work.”
Mr Mohammed Hilal Al Muroushedi, CEO, Corporate Shared Services in DED, added: “The training programme is designed to provide an opportunity for employees to apply their learning to their practical work environment. DED plans to launch additional leadership programmes for senior and middle management employees as per the training plan for 2012.”
