DEWA hosts open day for consultants and contractors

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) today organised a Consultants and Contractors Open Day’ at the Grand Hyatt hotel, Dubai. The event was attended by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, Divisional Heads of DEWA as well as DEWA’s consultants and contractors, and the event supports the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to reinforce the development and sustainable future of the Emirate of Dubai, and led by its vision to become a sustainable world-class utility.
The open day aimed to exchange views, discuss ways of strengthening cooperation with consultants and contractors and brief them on DEWA’s recent e-Services and online applications, which aim to improve access to electricity and water services.
“DEWA works on every level to achieve the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to strengthen the pillars of development for, and the sustainable future of, Dubai. We achieve this by simplifying the processes and services provided to our customers, employees, and partners. Led by our vision to become a sustainable world-class utility, we adopt best practices to support the strategy of the Government of Dubai,” said Al Tayer.
“DEWA has launched a new developmental initiative for e-Services, called ‘One Window for Electricity and Water Services.’ This enables consultants and contractors to submit connection requests for new businesses through DEWA’s website. Our customers can now attach all their required documentation and technical drawings to obtain a cost estimate, coordinates for technical inspection and get electricity services for new projects,” added Al Tayer.
“DEWA has also implemented its SAP Project, which supports our strategy to adopt state-of-the-art technologies and solutions across all online operations. Through this initiative we aim to provide integrated services and comprehensive reports, as well as ensure accuracy and flexibility, closely monitor operations, and automate and measure DEWA’s overall operations; to provide better services to our customers, employees, and partners. We are keen to improve our mechanisms for customers to apply for our services to meet their expectations,”

During the open day, DEWA briefed consultants and contractors on its Strategic Plan 2012 – 2016. Presentations were also made on the new connections. At the end of the open day, an interactive question and answer session was held with DEWA listened to the suggestions and ideas for continuous improvement. DEWA promised to follow up on specific matters and is looking to provide creative ways of serving customers better.
The consultants and contractors thanked DEWA for hosting the open day annually, giving them the chance to deliver their suggestions, notes and opinions. The participants praised DEWA’s achievements in developing e-Services for customers and partners.

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) was formed on 1 January, 1992, by a decree issued by His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum to take over and merge the Dubai Electric Company and the Dubai Water Department that had been operating independently for several years until then.
