DEWA organises brainstorming session on Smart Government, sustainability and demand management
Led by the leading role of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) in adopting suggestions and innovative ideas that support organisational excellence and performance, DEWA organised a brainstorming session at its headquarters attended by managers and employees across DEWA’s various departments. The session is part of a campaign launched by DEWA’s TAWASOL suggestion scheme in collaboration with Strategy and Business Development.
Three key topics - Smart Government, sustainability and demand management, were discussed in the session, with participants reviewing ways to improve innovative work mechanisms that will help achieve DEWA’s strategy, institutional goals and vision to become a sustainable world-class utility. The ways to support Dubai Government's ambitious plans and the ‘Green Economy for Sustainable Development’ initiative to promote the country’s sustainable development were also discussed at the session.
Following the session, DEWA announced the launch of a campaign that deals with various related topics. The TAWASOL scheme called on DEWA staff to submit their innovative and creative ideas to be discussed at a workshop to be held next month, to be attended by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, and other senior managers.
"The launch of the hashtag (#UAE_brainstorming) by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on his Twitter account, lays the foundations for a qualitative leap to enhance the spirit of innovation and creativity for employees in DEWA and other governmental institutions. DEWA activated this initiative by organising a series of events with the aim of strengthening the culture of creativity among employees in accordance with Dubai Government's vision,” said Al Tayer.
He added that the brainstorming session will add value to the yearly DEWA strategy workshop in February, which is organised to achieve DEWA’s goal to take the lead in strategic planning in line with its vision to become a sustainable world-class utility.
Commenting on the main topics of the brainstorming session, Al Tayer pointed out that DEWA has made great achievements in its quick and efficient transition towards the Smart Government through its commitment to adopting cutting-edge technological solutions and best international practices on customer services. Al Tayer explained that DEWA is working diligently to develop new smart initiatives and services to cement its leading position in the field of smart governance.
In terms of sustainability, Al Tayer added that DEWA, working in line with its vision to become a sustainable world-class utility, supports and launches green projects and initiatives to raise environmental awareness among all segments of society, underlining the important role of DEWA in achieving sustainable development in Dubai.
“DEWA adopts electricity and water demand management initiatives to meet the requirements of sustainable development, which is an essential part of our strategy to rationalise consumption, conserve natural resources, and protect the environment from pollution. At DEWA, we spare no efforts to achieve more milestones to implement perfect practices in the use of water and energy resources by implementing green economy strategies according to the best international eco-friendly practices,” concluded Al Tayer.
To support the initiative, DEWA will conduct a social media campaign to communicate effectively with the target audience and create a knowledge sharing platform.
