The opportunity to create storybook ideas, transform phones into 3D hologram projectors, discover more about clean energy sources, and perform detailed microscopy experiments will be on offer during Qatar Foundation’s Qatar National Day celebrations this year.

Taking place from December 12-20 at Darb Al Saai, in Al Sadd, Qatar Foundation’s (QF) festivities will be held under the theme of Our Unity...Our Pride, and will feature an array of activities that showcase the full spectrum of QF and the contribution it makes to Qatar, from education to science and research and community development.

“We are proud to play our part in the Qatar National Day celebrations, to help illustrate and celebrate the essence of the nation, while highlighting the role our organization plays in supporting the development of a diversified and sustainable economy,” said Khalifa E. Al-Kubaisi, Manager, Media Relations & Press Office, Qatar Foundation.

“The interactive and diverse activities within our tent at Darb Al Saai is reflective of our nation’s values, identity, unity, and culture.

“Qatar National Day is a unique and wonderful opportunity for the entire community to come together to not only reflect upon past achievements and the milestones our nation has reached, but to showcase how we are working collectively toward building a better future for Qatar.

“Our activities are designed with the intention to empower, inspire, and excite people, and can be enjoyed by the whole community, regardless of age, nationality, and interests. There truly is something on offer for everyone, and we look forward to visitors discovering this for themselves.”

In the QF tent at Darb Al Saai this year, visitors will be able to learn the secrets and explore the beauty of Arabic calligraphy in an activity organized by the Education City Mosque, as well as find out more about specific plants mentioned in the Holy Qur'an and Hadith courtesy of the Qur'anic Botanic Garden.

Children can explore the world of literature and books in the Qatar Reads corner, while also learning about the importance of displaying strong and positive moral virtues at the Akhlaquna Award booth.

Meanwhile, the three research institutes under QF member Hamad Bin Khalifa University will also be on hand with a range of educational activities. Qatar Energy Environment Research Institute will teach visitors about renewable energy; while the principles of 3D design and printing will be demonstrated by Qatar Computing Research Institute; and Qatar Biomedical Research Institute will offer people the chance to test how many calories can be burned on a digital bicycle.

Following the inauguration of Darb Al Saai on December 12, where visitors will be able to explore its activities from 3.30pm-11pm, the QF tent will then be open to the public on:

  • Friday, December 13, from 2pm-11pm
