Workshop on the development of standard operations procedures manual for environment, health and safety management system in the municipal system
In a move aimed to enhance the standard of health and safety in the building and construction sector in the Emirate, officials in environment, health and safety management in the Department of Municipal Affairs, and the Emirate’s Municipalities, Abu Dhabi City, Al Ain City and the Western Region, discussed the issue of developing a consolidated Manual of standard operations procedures for the environment, health and safety management system at the level of the municipal system in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
During a workshop organized by the Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA), the employees in charge of the Environment, Health and Safety Management in the Emirate’s Municipalities reviewed certain procedures proposed by the DMA and the areas covered by these procedures and formed an opportunity for the municipalities to discuss these procedures and add their own input to enhance standards in the Environment, health and safety in the building and construction sector in the Emirate.
The manual includes standard operations and procedures for the Environment, Health and Safety management System in municipal system when dealing with companies working in the building and construction sector according to the highest international standards and practices in this area, and comes in line with the direction of the Abu Dhabi Environment, Health and Safety Center (ADEHS) which aims to achieve the highest degree of health and safety standard in the Emirate.
Engineer Abdulrahman Mohamed Almarzooqi Manager of the Environment, Health and Safety Management System Division in the DMA said that the development of standard operations procedures for the Environment, Health and Safety Management System in the Municipal System provides a common base and unified professional policies and procedures to enhance the standard of health and safety in the building and construction sector.
In addition to the previous topics, the workshop discussed the 2013 plan which also included a unified mechanism for the Environmental, Health and Safety Management System in the commercial sector, which has been prepared and is awaiting final approval.
It is worth mentioning that the development of the standard operations procedures for the environment, health and safety management system in the municipal system comes as a part of the DMA’s efforts to enhance health and safety standard in the building and construction sector and to achieve the requirements of the Abu Dhabi 2030 vision to achieve sustainable development in the Emirate.
