Dubai Chamber’s booth at 9th World Chambers Congress in Torino attracts over 1,000 participants

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry successfully concluded its participation in the 9th World Chambers Congress organised by International Chambers of Commerce’s World Chambers Federation (WCF) in Torino, Italy from June 10 to 12 as its large booth attracted over 1,000 visitors over the three days of the Congress.

Dubai Chamber’s attractive booth made its presence felt during the Congress as did the organisation’s officials through their participation in the various activities of the biennial event by promoting the Chamber’s services and initiatives to 12,000 global chambers of commerce.

During the conference, Dubai Chamber played its role of enhancing cooperation between global chambers of commerce and industry through the participation of H.E. Hamad Buamim, President and CEO, Dubai Chamber and Deputy Chair of WCF, who moderated the plenary session on Global Mobility and judged the World Chambers Competition in the Best Unconventional Projects category.

H.E. Piero Fassino, Mayor of Torino, who inaugurated the Congress under the theme ‘Identity, Community, Vision’, was received by H.E. Buamim during his visit to Dubai Chamber booth and was briefed about the value-added services and initiatives offered by the Chamber. He was also presented a memento on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Dubai Chamber and a book on the Emirate of Dubai and its evolution.

H.E. Hamad Buamim, stated that the important world chambers event provided a fitting platform for Dubai Chamber to showcase the major global events and conferences organised by the Chamber on Africa, CIS, Latin America and the Global Islamic Economic Summit to 12,000 chambers of commerce from over 100 countries as well as to promote Dubai as a global business hub.

He stressed that Dubai Chamber’s participation in this global chamber’s gathering was of immense importance as the Chamber is playing an active role as a member of World Chambers Federation and is making forays into the world’s emerging markets through new representative offices which reflects the Chamber’s leading role in promoting the emirate and the competitiveness of Dubai businesses in regional and global business arenas.

The biennial Congress’ four plenary sessions, were followed by 25 workshops that addressed key challenges and opportunities for businesses today including SME financing; youth entrepreneurship and job creation, managing the increasing complexity of metropolitan cities, the role of chambers in fighting crime, and new technology realms of crowd funding and digital currencies.

Mahdi AlMazim, Director, Members Services, during his participation in a panel discussion, spoke about the success of the ATA Carnet implemented by the Chamber and its assistance in implementing the system in the UAE and other GCC countries.

Meanwhile, Dubai Chamber’s attractive booth disseminated information about the Chamber’s initiatives, services and facilities offered to its members and the investment opportunities available for the international business community in the various economic sectors in Dubai as well as the Chamber’s major upcoming events including the Africa Global Business Forum which sheds light on the investment opportunities in Africa, and the role of Dubai's strategic link between the African continent and the rest of the world.
