The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry honoured 20 companies for their corporate social responsibility and sustainability efforts during a recognition ceremony held at its premises on Wednesday.

The Dubai Chamber CSR Label was presented to RSA Logistics and NSCC International Limited for the first time while BETA IT, Chicago Maintenance & Construction, EMPOWER, Etechan Technologies, Quick Registration, and Veolia Oman received it for the second time.

Du, InfoFort, MAB Facilities Management, Veolia UAE, and Zulekha Hospital achieved it for the third time, while Canon ME, Summertown Interiors, TNT Express, The Nail Spa, UAE Exchange and National Bank of Abu Dhabi received it for the fourth time and QBG for the fifth time running since the inception of the CSR Label five years ago.

Congratulating the honourees for their achievement, H.E. Hisham Al Shirawi, 2nd Vice-Chairman, Dubai Chamber, urged them to continue the good work and inspire other like-minded organisations in their journey to leverage CSR and sustainability in the long run.

“Today, we are delighted to be rewarding 20 companies, which is the largest number of companies being honoured at one presentation ceremony. Since its launch in 2010, 221 CSR Labels were awarded to companies which shows the rising interest of the business community in applying CSR best practices in their work environment and get rewarded,” said H.E. Al Shirawi.

Over the years, the Dubai Chamber CSR Label has served as a diagnostic framework and a CSR and sustainability management tool for the participating companies to gauge their approach to CSR best practices while discovering the strengths and weaknesses in their management process’ effects on the environment and the community. This also allows them the opportunity to highlight their responsible business practices in front of the community as well as customers, added H.E. Al Shirawi.

On their part, the honourees lauded the role of Dubai Chamber in providing them with a framework to define and improve their corporate social responsibility performance as well as the opportunity to promote their activities, and to enhance their reputation as leaders in achieving sustainability.

The CSR Label is open to all organisations, private or public, regardless of their size, sector or operations and can make a major difference to a company’s reputation, efficiency and productivity and its success depends on how the CSR objectives are set and communicated to all of their stakeholders.
