Emirates Gas wins Dubai Chamber’s CSR Label Award for 4th consecutive year

Emirates Gas (EMGAS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), has won the CSR Label Award from the Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Dubai Chamber) for the fourth consecutive year. 

The first oil and gas company to win the honour from Dubai Chamber in 2010-11, the consecutive win by EMGAS reiterates its outstanding contribution to promoting Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives that make a difference to the community and the environment. 

At a ceremony held at Dubai Chamber, Khalid Saad, Marketing & Sales Manager of EMGAS, received the CSR Label Award from H.E. Hisham Al Shirawi, Vice Chairman of the Board of Dubai Chamber.

As part of its CSR commitment, EMGAS distributes free LPG refills to over 300 underprivileged families in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, during the Holy Month of Ramadan and beyond. The company also promotes the safe use of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and undertook a ‘Safe Cylinder Safe House’ campaign. Employees of EMGAS regularly take part in environmental clean-up campaigns, which further highlight the company’s organisation-wide commitment to the community and sustainable development. 

Demonstrating its commitment to environmental sustainability, EMGAS is today at the forefront in promoting the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as a cleaner and greener choice of automotive fuel. The use of CNG reduces carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and nitrous oxide emissions, and practically eliminates sulphur and particulate emissions. 

EMGAS is a pioneer in introducing many environment friendly LPG based products for the past several decades, such as EGAP substituting CFC, Cutting Edge Gas in place of Acetylene and CNG for automobiles. 

The largest supplier of LPG in the UAE, EMGAS is the market leader in supplying a variety of LPG products and propane used in industrial, commercial establishments and residential areas. Adopting several international standards, EMGAS is certified for ISO 9001 Quality management, ISO 14001 Environmental management and ISO 10002 Customer care systems, as well as OHSAS 18001. In addition to winning the prestigious Dubai Quality Award in 2012, EMGAS has also won the Dubai Award for Sustainable Transport from the Roads & Transport Authority in 2011 and 2012. 

EMGAS won the First place at the 4^th edition of Dubai Award for Sustainable Transport (DAST) in “Transport Safety Category” and the First place at the 5^th edition of “Environment Protection Category”. EMGAS has also been voted as a Superbrand for 2014. EMGAS has won EPC – Environment Performance Certification by Ministry of Environment and Water for its plant facilities. 

The Dubai Chamber’s CSR Label is a direct recognition that honours the best CSR practices. The award is open to all companies, large and small, operating in any economic sector of Dubai. Earlier this year, ENOC also won the CSR Label Award for undertaking initiatives that make a difference to the community and the world.
