Dubai Chamber promotes the emirate’s lucrative investment environment at the Astana Economic Forum 2015
In line with its strategy to promote Dubai as a lucrative business destination, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s representative office in Azerbaijan recently participated in the 8th Astana Economic Forum 2015 held in the Kazakh capital and was attended by over 3,000 participants from more than 80 countries of the world.
Dubai Chamber’s attractive stand manned by officials of its Azerbaijan office held 15 meetings with representative of international companies, business leaders and government officials on the side-lines of the forum entitled “Infrastructure: Driver of sustainable economic growth”, organised under the patronage of H.E. Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Astana Economic Forum is one of the largest international forums in the world. Held annually since 2008, AEF brings together world business leaders, policy officials, scientists, and Nobel Prize laureates to find solutions to the greatest economic and social challenges of the time. The forum served as a fitting platform to discuss business opportunities in the Eurasian Economic Union, Urban Development and the Revival of the Silk Road and many more relevant topics.
The Chamber stand which was visited by a large number of delegates received enquiries about guidelines on doing business in Dubai; Dubai Chamber activities; bilateral business opportunities and the ways to meeting investors in particular sectors in the emirate.
Visiting the stand were government and private sector representatives including officials of Kazakhstan National Chamber of Entrepreneurs, KazNex Invest, Eurasian Economic Commission, UAE Embassy in Kazakhstan, and Members of the Kazakh Parliament as well as other global investors interested in setting up base in Dubai.
Omar Khan, Director, International Offices, Dubai Chamber, stated that the Chamber’s participation in the forum was hugely successful as this turned out to be an ideal venue to showcase the competitiveness of Dubai businesses as well as the emirate’s lucrative investment environment to global investors, especially those from the CIS member countries.
He further stated that the forum allowed the Chamber to reinforce its presence in the CIS market while opening up a door of opportunities for the regional businesses to check out the benefits of setting up businesses in Dubai and to explore joint investment ventures with the emirate’s business community.
Khan pointed out that Dubai Chamber’s representative office, since its opening in November 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan, has been regularly participating in regional economic forums and exhibitions besides organising roundtable discussions and seminars focused on establishing new contacts and exploring areas of synergy between Dubai businesses and their CIS counterparts.
