Dubai Chamber seminar highlights future trends in UAE Civil Transactions Law

Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in partnership with LexisNexis, organised a half-day seminar on the UAE’s Civil Transactions Law at its head office recently.

The seminar highlighted the challenges and future trends in the UAE Civil Transactions Law, which stipulates rules and provisions that oversee transactions and their stability to regulate social and economic development in one of the world’s fastest growing economies.

Mrs Jehad Kazim, Director, Legal Services Department, Dubai Chamber, said: “The UAE is one of the fastest growing economies in the world and supporting growth is a robust and sophisticated legal system. The UAE Civil Transactions Law governs this important business process ensuring continued business growth and development.’’

The seminar featured speakers: Charles S Laubach, Partner, Afridi & Angell Legal Consultants, who gave an overview of the UAE’s Civil Transactions Law; Andrew Cook, Head of Legal Department, Flash Entertainment, who gave the business perspective on civil transactions; and Payam Beheshti, Senior Associate, Clifford Chance, who gave insight into disputes and case studies.

A panel discussion on the ‘Future Trends & Challenges in Civil Transactions’ was also held and attendees, including Dubai Chamber members, lawyers and legal consultants, investors and general managers, business owners and corporate counsel, were able to participate in a question and answer session. 

Dubai Chamber regularly organises training, seminars and workshops to serve the business community in boosting their trade and contributing to the economic growth of Dubai.
