Dubai Customs organizes smart events during UAE Innovation Week to foster culture of innovation
In anticipation of its participation in the upcoming UAE Innovation Week, from 22to 28 November 2015, Dubai Customs (DC) has prepared an eventful program and various activities. The Innovation Week is one of the initiatives launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, that aims to achieve a qualitative shift in the culture of innovation in all organizations and sectors in the UAE.
DC will start its participation with an Innovation Festival that will be held in its training center halls, which have been adapted to serve as fully-equipped innovation incubators to embrace the activities of the festival. The activities of the festival also include organizing smart workshops dedicated for innovations, brainstorming sessions to generate new ideas and innovations, and permanent book fairs that showcase the most up-to-date publications in the fields of innovation.
HE Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of DP World and Chairman of Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation, said: “We seek to establish innovation as a culture that promotes the work and performance of all members of our society. Therefore, the activities organized by DC during UAE Innovation Week have been designed to address people from all walks of life in a simple manner.”
Commenting on DC’s participation, HE Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs, said: “We are constantly updating our employees, clients and partners on the latest global trends in the field of innovation. We have also dedicated some of our events to educate the new generations, especially children, to motivate them to be the stars of innovation in the future," adding that DC will dedicate an event to children at “Kidzania” – Dubai Mall.
The most prominent event DC will organize during the Week of Innovation is the First Government Innovation Lab, on November 24th; an initiative launched by the Passenger Operations Department. The laboratory is expected to attract senior officials and dignitaries from various sectors. A host of leading general managers, experts, supply chain partners, and individuals are also taking part in the laboratory to enrich and develop ideas and innovations.
Meanwhile, DC will also broadcast a morning radio show on Dubai FM and will present in the evening a live TV show on Sama Dubai channel during the seven-day period of the UAE Innovation Week.
Dubai Customs is one of the leading government departments taking part in enhancing sustainable development and promoting Dubai’s image worldwide, turning it into a principal capital, business and tourism destination, as it facilitates smooth movement of legitimate trade and leverages economic and social development, the matter which is consistent with its slogan stating "gateway to Dubai’s prosperity", because prosperity is usually based on free trade through a safe, fast and practical environment to meet the needs of people and adapt to their requirements. This in addition to DC’s main role to protect society and borders against those who try to smuggle prohibited substances to or through Dubai threatening the community safety and security.
