Dubai Customs celebrated today Monday the 43rd National Day of the UAE. A host of colourful festivities took place at DC’s main building, customs centres and airport terminals, to celebrate and cherish the auspicious occasion.

The ceremony was commenced with raising the UAE flag, playing the national anthem in front of the Dubai Customs building, then events began with a parade staged by Customs inspectors. Dubai Customs headquarters wore the colours of the UAE flag and the Spirit of the Union logos, alongside a variety of traditional events and heritage settings featuring Emirati lifestyle and folk cuisine.

On this occasion, H.E. Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs, extended warm congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai and Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates.

“Today, 43 years of glory and remarkable achievements cross our minds. Every sacrifice and achievement of the State’s founding fathers – the  late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum and their brothers members of the first Federal Supreme Council – have formed a brick in this edifice and led to the elevated position and reputation of the United Arab Emirates, on par with the developed nations,” Ahmed Mahboob said.

“Guided by the UAE wise leadership's vision, the UAE has become a model of progression and prosperity, enjoying a safe and healthy living environment. The citizens of the UAE are among the happiest in the world, thanks to the wisdom of our leaders, whose main concern is the wellbeing of  their people,” he added.

Dubai Customs employees and Childcare Center children put on UAE flag scarfs, and all enjoyed the festivities that included a military parade performed by a group of customs inspectors from Dubai Customs’ Airport Operations Department and a performance made by a talented young chanter, Ibrahim Al Obaidly. Moreover, crowds from the residents of nearby buildings and the public lined up on the main street to watch the event, sharing with Dubai Customs staff the National Day celebrations.

The winner of the best design of UAE flag on a digital screen was announced. The design of Fatma Rashid Al Zaabi adorned the building’s façade.

Later, the audience was invited to tour the miniature Heritage Village that was set up at the entrance of Dubai Customs main building. It featured early-times traditional shops that picture UAE indigenous heritage, where popular UAE food was distributed, and showcased a variety of old Emirati handcrafts.

The Childcare Center children also had their share of entertainment and rejoicing, as they shared with their parents and Dubai Customs staff in the various activities. Children wore the Emirati traditional garments, and enjoyed national music, popular food and famous Emirati sweets.
