Dubai Media incorporated exclusively streams all its TV channels with Samsung Smart TVs

Samsung Electronics, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, today announced that it has formed an exclusive partnership with Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI), the Dubai government-owned media conglomerate. As part of the partnership, DMI will stream all its TV channels through a custom in-house built application for Samsung Smart TV’s, which will be available across 24 countries including the GCC, Levant, North Africa and Turkey. 

The partnership with DMI is a milestone in the regional media industry as it will see the introduction of live streaming of Arabic content via Samsung’s Smart TVs for the first time in the region. The new service is being demonstrated during GITEX Technology Week, which is held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from October 9-13.

With the combination of Samsung Smart TVs features and DMIs extensive channel line-up, users will be able to enjoy their favorite shows from the comfort of their living room.”

DMI’s decision to partner with Samsung is based on the immense popularity of Samsung Smart TVs amongst consumers in the region. Samsung recently announced that its Smart TV range is dominating the Gulf region with 45% market share in the Smart TV category and remains committed to offering a diverse portfolio of content with services being launched in English, Arabic and Hindi.

Combined with 3D and High Definition viewing options, Samsung’s Smart TV range includes the Samsung ‘Smart Hub’ that is the interface to all features and applications. By using Smart Hub, viewers can easily search for movies, shows and videos via online services and across connected devices, browse the Web from their TV and access a wide variety of applications from Samsung Apps, the world’s first HDTV-based apps store. Samsung Apps, the world’s first HDTV-based application store, allows you to either buy or download the applications you want from your own television.  There are over 200 apps available for this region.
