Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), the integrated free zone technology park, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, organized a one-day blood donation drive. More than 70 blood units were successfully collected during the initiative that drew the participation of Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority employees and its partners.

The drive was conducted at a mobile booth that was stationed at the headquarters of Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA).

Haidar Ali, Vice President of People & Business Excellence at DSOA, said: “We are delighted to partner in the efforts of the Ministry of Health. Over the past few years, we have actively engaged our employees and partners in such humanitarian initiatives, which complement our CSR strategy that focuses on environment, human capital, and the community.”

The blood donation camp came as part of the six-month national campaign launched by the Ministry of Health to ensure the UAE’s self-reliance in blood supply. According to the Ministry of Health, blood donation drives that were hosted by public and private sector entities in 2011 collected over 85,000 blood units in the UAE.

A wholly-owned entity of the government of Dubai, DSO operates as a free zone technology park for semiconductors, microelectronics and other electronics-based companies looking to set up their regional headquarters and research and development divisions in Dubai.
