Dubai SME and DHL Launch Global Expansion Programme for SMEs

Dubai SME has signed an agreement with DHL to launch the ‘Global Expansion Initiative for Small and Medium Enterprises’ programme.

Dubai SME launched the SME RATE Framework to comprehensively rate SME performance. This is instrumental to achieving the goals of the UAE Vision 2021 goal to building a diversified and sustainable economy, and aligns with the Dubai Plan 2021 goal of increasing the share of SMEs in the emirate's GDP.

“The partnership marks a significant step for SMEs particularly in enhancing productivity and promoting innovation among local companies. It will promote the performance and growth of SMEs in Dubai and across the UAE by facilitating logistics, and eliminating obstacles to exporting to markets overseas,” said Abdul Baset Al Janahi, CEO of Dubai SME.

Al Janahi said that the logistics sector plays a lead role in driving sustainable growth in Dubai and the UAE. Through its partnership with DHL, Dubai SME aims to promote best practices among SMEs and empower them for competing with large enterprises in overseas market. He added that the partnership will lead to enhanced productivity and promote the export capabilities of local companies across varied sectors such as retail, and food and beverage.

The partnership with DHL also provides local SMEs access to smart shipping solutions. “The agreement covers a series of specialised workshops to support skills development and help business owners to identify the best growth strategies, expand to markets overseas, and optimise logistics solutions to efficiently serve their target markets," said Al Janahi.
