Dubai SME, RSA Insurance partner with to host SME development workshop

Published June 20th, 2012 - 08:50 GMT, a leading international business development company, in partnership with Dubai SME, the agency of the Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai mandated to develop the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector, and RSA Insurance, recently hosted SME development workshop as part of its SME Evolution Programme. 

The onsite event, entitled ‘Expand your Business to Reach New Heights,’ was aimed to enable business owners to discover the tools and opportunities available to expand their business. The participants also had the opportunity to meet a number of leaders and pioneers from the world of business. The workshop provided a platform for SMEs to get to know each other, as well as about the services offered by partners like Dubai SME and RSA Insurance.

Dubai SME and RSA Insurance joined more than 20 businesses including regional partners Aramex and STC of Saudi Arabia as well as top-notch international players such as Google, Intel, and AllWorld Network, an organisation established by Professor Michael E. Porter of the Harvard Business School, to mark the Spring rollout of the programme at the Dubai SME premises on 22 May 2012.

Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Small and Medium Size Enterprises

In September 2009, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President & Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai issued Law No.23 of 2009 concerning the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Small and Medium Size Enterprises, recently renamed the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders. 

The law defines the goals of the establishment for strengthening Dubai’s position as a centre for entrepreneurship and allows for the setting up of projects which encourage entrepreneurship and the innovative ideas of youth. This move seeks to motivate youth to work, as well as to pursue economic activity, such as the development and organisation of programs and initiatives.
