Dubai SME visits Jebel Ali-based manufacturer of power protection products

Micro Automation Industries (MAI), a Dubai-based manufacturer and premium member of the Dubai SME100, has made inroads into regional and European markets since 2003 and is increasing their global export footprint of Powermatic products this year.

This was highlighted at a recent visit by Abdul Basit Al Janahi, CEO of Dubai SME, the agency of the Department of Economic Development in Dubai mandated to develop the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector, to the MAI manufacturing facility in Jebel Ali Free Zone.

Launched in 2012, Dubai SME100 ranks the top-performing SMEs in Dubai to help groom them into bigger, better and more sustainable enterprises, and support them through their growth into larger, internationally-focused companies.

“We were impressed with Micro Automation Industries’ innovative approach to manufacturing and its unique product development in Jebel Ali shows that Dubai-based companies can produce world-class products suited for a global market,” said Al Janahi.

Ensuring that MAI continues to promote innovation and leadership in the power protection industry Dubai SME is working closely with the organisation in opening avenues and opportunities to expand their product range.

“We have been experiencing good response for our range of Powermatic products not only in the developing countries within the Middle East but also in developed ones such as Belgium and Germany in Europe, allowing us to expand our market reach,” said Hazim Al-Hajjaj, Managing Director of Micro Automation Industries.

Micro Automation has seen a continuous growth in exports during the first quarter of 2013 as compared to the same period in 2012of its Powermatic products with a27 per cent increase in sales revenue while 30 per cent increase in quantity was also recorded. Powermatic products were also exported to a total of 36 countries last year, a considerable increase from 28 countries in 2011.

“The support that Dubai SME provides to small and medium enterprises like us is very important as it shows they value our contributions to the economy of the Emirate of Dubai and the UAE in general. We are glad to be collaborating with Dubai SME in identifying the needs and challenges of the sector and provide valuable input to inspire a culture of innovation within the SMEs,” he added. 

“Micro Automation is making the UAE industry sector proud and Dubai SME will work with the company to study incentive schemes used in Europe for possible support and establishment of research and development (R&D) activities in Dubai,” Al Janahi said.

Micro Automation presented to Al Janahi the company’s manufacturing capabilities in its facilities in Jebel Ali Free Zone and Belgium along with its entire range of products and future product developments in the pipeline.

In 2011, Micro Automation was ranked number one in Innovation by the Dubai SME100. With a 35-year history in the field of engineering design, development, prototyping and manufacturing, Micro Automation has carved a niche as the region’s leader in the field of power protection.
