Dubai Wholesale City, Dubai Police Host Sports Day for Blue-Collar Workers

Marking International Day of Happiness, Dubai Wholesale City (DWSC), the region’s largest fully integrated wholesale hub, today hosted a sports day in collaboration with Dubai Police for over 7,000 blue-collar workers at its premises.
The event drew the participation of Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, Abdulla Belhoul, Chief Executive Officer of DWSC, Saud Abu Al-Shawareb, Chief Operating Officer of Dubai Industrial Park (DI), and senior officials from Dubai Police and DI.
In celebration of International Day of Happiness, the day featured a packed agenda of sports activities including a four-kilometer run, a football match, and a tug-of-war competition, as well as a host of entertainment activities.
Speaking at the event, Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri said: “Happiness is embedded in the DNA of all public and private sector entities in the UAE and is a core objective of the country’s development agenda, due to the sustained efforts of our wise leadership. Today, the world-class services provided by our country seek to ensure high levels of happiness and well-being among our citizens and residents. It is encouraging to see that our country has become an incubator for individuals of all nationalities and capabilities across segments – enabling them to be the best at what they do.”
For his part, Abdulla Belhoul said: “Bringing together various entities from the public and private sector to celebrate International Happiness Day, this sports day highlights the importance of collaboration in boosting happiness and well-being among the community in the UAE.”
He added: “The UAE has been placed 20th in the World Happiness Report 2018, validating the success of our country’s efforts in ensuring the happiness and well-being of its citizens and residents. Joining the ranks of the 20 happiest countries in the world is a significant milestone on the UAE’s happiness journey.”
