DUBAL fulfils objectives at CRU 2012

Having participated actively in the Commodity Research Unit’s 17th World Aluminium Conference (CRU 2012), which took place in Abu Dhabi, UAE from 30 April to 2 May this year, Dubai Aluminium (DUBAL) has successfully achieved its corporate objectives for the event. So says Abdulla J M Kalban (President & CEO), who says, “Through CRU 2012, awareness was raised that DUBAL is not only a major player in the global industry in terms of primary aluminium production, but also as a developer of superior technologies based on thorough and on-going research into process and system improvements. Attention was also focused on the increasingly important role played by the GCC as an emerging aluminium hub; and the DUBAL delegates who attended the conference gained valuable insight into developments and trends across the world.”
An entirely government-owned enterprise, DUBAL’s Jebel Ali complex ranks as the world’s largest single-site primary aluminium smelter using pre-baked anode technology. The company also owns an equal shareholding with Mubadala Development Company in Emirates Aluminium (“EMAL”), the Al Taweelah-based aluminium smelter that was the host sponsor of CRU 2012.
DUBAL’s primary involvement comprised a stand at the exhibition component of CRU 2012, where attention was focused on the company’s commitment to continuous improvement and progress through technological innovation, by highlighting the specific benefits offered by DUBAL’s world-leading, proprietary, high amperage DX and DX+ Reduction Cell Technologies. These include superb productivity at exceptionally high metal purity levels; greater energy-efficiency which contributes to energy conservation and associated operating cost reductions; reduced environmental impact through lower fossil fuel consumption and reduced carbon consumption; and fully engineered versatility, which allows for enhanced operating capability plus inherent potential for developing even higher amperage performance capacity.
“Receiving international leaders in the aluminium industry in the UAE gave DUBAL a strong forum for showcasing everything that we have to offer the world,” concludes Kalban. “Indeed, the exposure of the DUBAL brand to the delegate base of approximately 420 high-ranking individuals was invaluable; giving the promise of great returns in terms of our image, reputation and market share.”
