Innovative and responsible design features like LG’s new ‘Door-in-Door’ fridge, which reduces energy wastage by allowing the owner to check the contents of the fridge without opening the door and lowering the fridge’s overall temperature, mean that energy efficient products don’t only have to be manufactured to require less energy. Sometimes, the best way to think green is to think smart, and this is exactly what LG are doing. Ingenuity and focus are key to developing a healthy balance between sustainable and technological in your way of life.

LG products can do more than just reduce energy expenditure to be eco-friendly. With almost 10% of the world population living with water scarcity, wasting water is as costly and damaging to the environment as wasting electricity. To this end, LG designed a washing machine equipped with a Water Footprint Inventory (WFI), which monitors and reduces the total amount of water used by the machine. This is invaluable to people living in areas with scarce water supplies, where every single drop counts. And as with the reduced energy bills, saving water doesn’t just mean saving the planet – it means saving money. The WFI not only received an Energy Star certification, but was inaugurated into the UNESCO Evaluation Manual as a benchmark for creative, thoughtful, and progressive environmental standards and thinking.
