Emirates Foundation Launches 2019 Ramadan Campaign

Emirates Foundation, the national organization set up by the Abu Dhabi Government to facilitate public-private funded initiatives for the empowerment of youth across the UAE launched its annual Ramadan Campaign, a Takatof initiative aiming to empower Emirati Youth to engage in volunteering opportunities that promote tolerance and appreciation for diversity across the nation
This year’s campaign embraces the spirit of tolerance as declared His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, having 2019 as the year of Tolerance. With the UAE proclaimed as a global capital for acceptance, Takatof volunteers will be renovating social and cultural clubs of different communities across the UAE offering a message of unity, respect and appreciation for the diversity and richness of cultures across the UAE.
As part of the campaign, Emirates Foundation’s Takatof volunteers will also establish the first “Volunteering Club” which will be open to and run by volunteers from across different nationalities in the UAE.
Maytha Al Habsi, CEO at Emirates Foundation, said: The Emirates Foundation Ramadan Campaign is a reflection of the vision set forth by the UAE wise leadership to create new opportunities for our Youth that widen their horizons and help them connect with the diverse cultures and communities across the UAE. At Emirates Foundation, we believe that these opportunities for our youth to make a real difference within their communities and their lives help unlock their highest potential and their sense of social responsibility. Volunteer work and service to the community are the seeds that will build our nation’s social capital, a vital component for sustainable development.”
She continued, "The campaign carries a deep message to all our youth to inspire them to make a positive and tangible contribution to our nation through spreading the culture of tolerance and understanding – an effort which is not only aligned with the vision of Takatof and Emirates Foundation, but our national strategy as a whole.”
Al Habsi further elaborated: “Our goal this year is to achieve a target of over 1000 volunteers from across the UAE with a total of 15,000 volunteering hours during the holy month of Ramadan. “This year’s campaign carries a deep message to all our youth to inspire them to practice giving through their everyday lives– a value which is not only aligned with the vision of Takatof and Emirates Foundation, but our national pride.”
Inspired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Takatof fosters a culture of volunteering throughout the United Arab Emirates.
Launched in 2007, it offers the nation’s youth meaningful opportunities to volunteer for important social causes and encourages engagement in public service. Takatof members are ambassadors of the culture of volunteering and they represent the culture of social solidarity, support and giving and embody the noble values of the Emirate people.
Since 2007, the Takatof programme has organized Ramadan campaigns in an effort to instill a sense of civic engagement and responsibility amongst youth and provide its volunteers the opportunity to support community needs while developing their personal and leadership skills in the process.
