Emirates Grand Hotel announces appointment of Frank Owens as new General Manager

Emirates Grand Hotel, the 50-storey tall tower conveniently located in the heart of Dubai’s business and commercial district, has announced the appointment of Frank H. Owens as general manager. He will be fully in charge of the day-to-day operations of the 420-room hotel. 

Owens, a South African national, brings with him a wealth of more than 24 years experience in the hospitality industry. He began his career with Gold Reef City Hotel Casino in South Africa as F&B Manager. He held a variety of senior management positions including General Manager of Lanzera Manor Hotel & Wine Estate in South Africa before moving to Dubai in 1995. 

His first job in Dubai was General Manager of Moscow Hotel and later moved to Royal Ascot Hotel. He joined Emirates Grand Hotel in June 2011 as Group General Manager and Area Director Business Development. 

Commenting on the appointment, Owens said: ‘”I am determined to contribute to the ongoing efforts to position Emirates Grand Hotel as an icon of true Middle East hospitality and further enhance the hotel’s international quality standards to maintain it’s competitive edge. The Emirates Grand Hotel is a business and leisure hotel that offers world class services to guests and visitors alike so we will work hard to maintain its eminent position as a powerful and excellent brand in the UAE and the region!” 

Part of his responsibility is to create awareness for the property and lead the hotel in its expansion plans such as opening several dining outlets such as Tal Al Amar Lebanese Restaurant, The Grand Steak House and Emperor Asian Cuisine, an Asian restaurant that will serve Chinese, Thai, Korean & Japanese cuisine. He will also handle the operations of the cluster properties of Emirates Grand Hotel. 

Owens holds a diploma in Hotel Management and Tourism from Cambay Institute of Hospitality Management and Certificate in Administration Management and Credit Management from Sukses College. He speaks fluent English, Afrikaans and Dutch.
