Emirates Green Building Council to focus on strengthening partnerships to drive UAE’s Green Vision

Emirates Green Building Council (EmiratesGBC), an independent forum aimed at conserving the environment by strengthening and promoting green building practices in the UAE, has underlined its commitment to work towards promoting the vision of a ‘Green Economy for Sustainable Development,’ announced by UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed had recently unveiled the national initiative that aims to position the UAE as a world leader in green economy a center for export and re-export of products and green technologies to support sustainable growth in the long-term.
Adnan Sharafi, EmiratesGBC Chairman, said: “The ‘Green Economy for Sustainable Development’ announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed is a concerted initiative that will promote sustainable growth of the nation that contributes to an improved quality of life for all residents. As an organisation committed towards supporting the development of sustainable built environments, EmiratesGBC will further work towards driving the Green Vision of the nation through stronger public private partnerships.”
He added: “A collaborative effort that involves all stakeholders is imperative to achieve the various aspects of the Green Vision including the promotion of renewable energy, clean fuels and energy efficiency. EmiratesGBC will extend the expertise of our members and our collective knowledge for promoting the new initiative.”
EmiratesGBC regularly undertakes networking events and dedicated Focus Days to promote sustainable built environments. The Council also facilitates workshops based on specific issues related to green building, and participates in major events, conferences and forums to promote environmental awareness and contribute their expertise to the community.
